Determinations of elevated anti-streptolysin O (ASO) levels in serum and plasma are mainly used to aid in the diagnosis and monitor of streptococcal infections, acute rheumatic fever, acute glomerulonephritis, bacterial endocarditis, scarlet fever, streptococcal pyoderma.
