C-REACTIVE PROTEIN
C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is an acute phase protein whose determination is used to monitor and as an aid in the diagnosis of inflammatory condition and associated diseases, infection and tissue injury. High levels of CRP may indicate necrotic changes, multi-organ damage or tumor progression. Increased concentrations of CRP can be associated with inflammation and bacterial infection. CRP determination plays a significant role in monitoring of antibiotic and anti-inflammatory therapy and in monitoring for necrotizing skin and tissue conditions therapy.
